Chicken Alfredo Wreath
Deliciously Savory Chicken Alfredo Wreath: A Perfect Crowd-Pleasing Dish
If you’re looking for a dish that’s as delicious as it is impressive, this Chicken Alfredo Wreath is the one. It’s a crowd-pleaser, and I can tell you firsthand—my mom and sister are absolutely obsessed with it. They love it so much that, after any gathering, they’re secretly hiding some to make sure they have leftovers for the next day (no shame, I get it—it’s that good!). It’s a perfect balance of flaky croissants, creamy Alfredo sauce, shredded chicken, and all the cheesy goodness you could ask for.
This recipe is one that’s near and dear to my heart. It was inspired by our pastor’s wife, Sister Pam, who shared it with me years ago. Since then, it has become a staple at holiday gatherings and family dinners. The love and care that went into her version is something I try to carry over every time I make it, and now, I’m thrilled to share it with you.
Whether you’re hosting a family dinner, brunch, or a festive holiday gathering, this wreath will steal the show. The best part? It’s so easy to make! If you’re looking for a simple yet indulgent dish that will make everyone’s taste buds sing, this one’s for you. You can even take a shortcut by using rotisserie chicken—because who doesn’t need a little help now and then?
Ingredients:
- 2 tubes of Pillsbury croissants
- 2 ½ cups cooked, shredded chicken (about 2 medium chicken breasts) or 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 1 ½ cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 lb bacon (about 8 slices), crumbled
- ¾ cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 cup shredded pizza cheese (or mozzarella)
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 jar of Alfredo sauce (about 15 oz)
- 1 egg white (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Cook the Chicken (or Use Rotisserie Chicken):
- If cooking the chicken: In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook 2 chicken breasts (or about 1 ½ pounds) until no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes per side. You can also boil the chicken in water for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- If using rotisserie chicken: Simply shred the chicken from the rotisserie chicken to yield about 2 ½ cups of meat.
- Once the chicken is shredded, set it aside.
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a separate skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease, then crumble into small pieces.
- Prepare the Veggies:
- While the chicken and bacon cook, chop the spinach and onion. You can roughly chop the spinach into bite-sized pieces and finely chop the onion for even distribution in the filling.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken (or rotisserie chicken), chopped spinach, crumbled bacon, finely chopped onion, Swiss cheese, pizza cheese, salt, and Alfredo sauce. Stir everything together until it’s evenly mixed.
- Assemble the Wreath:
- Unroll the croissant dough and arrange the pieces on a baking sheet in a wreath shape. To do this, position half of the croissants with the pointed ends facing inward and the other half with the pointed ends facing outward, forming a circle.
- Spoon the chicken and cheese mixture onto the wide ends of the croissants.
- Gently fold the pointed ends of the croissants over the filling, bringing them towards the center to create a wreath shape. Be sure to enclose the filling well.
- Brush with Egg White:
- Lightly beat the egg white and brush it over the top of the croissant wreath for a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake:
- Place the wreath in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the croissant wreath is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the wreath to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe:
- Minimal Prep: This recipe uses Pillsbury croissant dough, so there’s no need to worry about making dough from scratch. You can get a beautiful, flaky result with minimal effort.
- Family-Friendly: It’s a guaranteed hit with the whole family. My kids adore it, and I’m sure yours will too. The cheesy, creamy filling is a favorite of all ages.
- Customizable: You can make it your own! Add in some mushrooms, bell peppers, or even switch up the cheeses to fit your family’s tastes.
- Easy Shortcut: If you’re short on time (or just want to make it even easier), you can use a rotisserie chicken instead of cooking your own. It’s a great shortcut that doesn’t sacrifice flavor!
Perfect for Any Occasion:
This Chicken Alfredo Wreath is as perfect for a cozy family meal as it is for a gathering with friends. It looks fancy, but it’s surprisingly simple to put together. Plus, the leftovers (if you can manage to save any) are just as amazing the next day—though, knowing my mom and sister, they’ll likely claim those for themselves.
