Classic French Toast
Growing up my sister, cousins and I spent a lot of time at our grandparents’ house, having sleepovers on the weekends and through the summers. Waking up to the smell of French toast was something we were almost guaranteed to experience on many of the mornings we would wake up from the pull-out couch bed. My pappy was a retired marine, and that man could cook, and very WELL! I remember watching him whip the eggs while adding very liberal amounts of cinnamon and syrup to the mixture. Now I make French toast for my own little people and every time I do, I hear them coming down the steps chattering about the yummy smell of the of the caramelized syrup and butter.
Ingredients:
Sourdough sandwich loaf (or your favorite bread)
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp butter

1. In a bowl, whisk eggs.
2. Add milk, cinnamon, maple syrup, and vanilla extract and mix well.
